An eSIM is a digital SIM built into your phone. You can switch plans or add travel data without a physical card.

Check compatibility

Most recent iPhones and many Android phones support eSIM. Your phone must also be unlocked for other carriers' eSIMs.

How to get one

  • From your mobile carrier (online, app or in store)
  • From a travel eSIM provider for trips abroad

Setup on iPhone

  1. Go to Settings → Mobile/Cellular → Add eSIM.
  2. Scan the QR code from your provider, or use the carrier's app.
  3. Choose labels and which line to use for data.

Setup on Android

  1. Go to Settings → Network & internet (or Connections) → SIMs → Add eSIM.
  2. Scan the QR code or follow the carrier's steps.

Tips

  • Keep your QR code until setup is confirmed.
  • Don't delete an eSIM unless you're sure; you may need to ask your carrier to reissue it.
  • Turn off data roaming on your home line abroad to avoid charges.
