When to wash your hands

  • Before eating or preparing food
  • After using the toilet
  • After blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing
  • After touching rubbish or pets
  • When you get home from outside

Hand sanitiser

When soap and water aren't available, an alcohol-based sanitiser is a good backup. Rub it over all parts of your hands until dry. Soap and water are best when hands are visibly dirty.

Look after your skin

Frequent washing can dry hands. Use a moisturiser regularly, especially in winter.
