Travelling with children during busy holidays can feel overwhelming. Good preparation makes a huge difference for everyone.

Before you go

  • Book seats together and choose flight or travel times around naps when possible.
  • Pack a small bag for each child with their own snacks and activities.
  • Talk to kids about the trip so they know what to expect.

Pack the essentials

  • Plenty of snacks and a refillable water bottle
  • A change of clothes for each child (and a spare top for you)
  • Wipes and tissues
  • Headphones and downloaded shows
  • Small new toys or activity books to reveal during the journey
  • Any medicines your child needs

At the airport

  • Arrive early and let kids burn energy before boarding.
  • Many airports have family security lanes.
  • Let children drink or suck on a snack during take-off and landing to help their ears.

On road trips
